KombatClinic.com interview with Helen Currie

Postby david_webb » Mon Dec 07, 2009 9:08 pm

December 2009 is definitely dedicated to female athletes in Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu over at KombatClinic.com and so far this month I have been uploading some of the interviews I have conducted over the last few months at staged interludes in the build up to Crimbo.

We’ve had Nicola Fairbrother MBE (Olympic Silver medallist and former World Judo Champion) and also Sarah Clark (2009 GB World Cup winner and European Judo Silver medallist) and today is no different as the latest instalment is with the UK’s only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and only the 2nd woman in Europe to achieve such a feat – Helen Currie.

Helen is a BJJ black belt under Machado black belt Chris Haueter and runs the Combat Base Academy here in the UK alongside her husband Darren. Helen has taken the time to share some of her thoughts on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the path that got her where she is today and what she makes of what is a very male orientated culture.

Check out the interview over at http://www.kombatclinic.com and as always let me know what you thought by leaving us a comment.

As always thanks for the support! :D
